Lakes

Sambhar Lake - Sambhar Lake is situated at a distance of 65 km from Jaipur on Phulera rail-route. This is the largest lake of saline water in India. The lake is a major source for salt production.

Pachpadra  Lake is situated near Balotra in Barmer district. It produces salt of high quality. It contains sodium chloride upto a level of 98%. Besides these, the lake of Phalodi Tehsil in Jodhpur district, Deedwana lake of Nagaur district and Lunkaransar lake of Bikaner district are also famous.

Jaisamand Lake - Jaisamand Lake was built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 17th century and created by damming Gomti River; today it measures 14 km long and 9km wide. There are beautiful chatries (cenotaphs) around this embankment, each with an elephant in front. The summer palaces of the Udaipur Maharanis are also here. The lake features a variety of birdlife and the nearby Jaisamand Sanctuary is home of panthers, leopards, deer, wild boars and crocodiles. The forests used to be a favorite hunting ground for the former rulers of Mewar, and elaborate hunting expeditions would frequently take place here.

Rajsamand Lake - Rajsamand Lake On the way to Kumbhalgarh lies their royal lake with a magnificent dam created in the 17th century offers a spectacular views of the sunset adorned by beautiful Torans [arches] and Chhatris And number of attractive pavilions. Stunning sculpture and Sanskrit verses are vividly inscribed in store a small counterpart of Nathdwara.

Ana Sagar Lake - This artificial lake was created by damming the river Luni. On its bank are the fine parks, the Dault Bagh and Subhash Bagh, with a series of marble pavilions that were erected in 1637 by Emperor Shah Jahan. There is an island in the center of the lake which is accessible by boats or water scooter. Boats and water scooters could be hired from the east side of the Dault Bagh. It is a famous place for evening stroll.

Pushkar Lake - The pious Pushkar Lake, believed to have been created by the falling of lotus from the hand of Lord Brahma. It is considered to be as old as the creation. The lake is considered as one of the most sacred spots, and believed that one dip in the waters of lake on Kartika Poornima is equivalent to performing yagnas for several hundred years.

The charming lake amidst the hills has fifty-two bathing ghats, built around lake. The water around each ghat is supposed to have special powers. The Naga Kund is belived to give fertility, Roop Tirth gives beauty and charm, Kapil Vyapi Kund water helps in curing leprosy and a dip in the Mrikand Muni Kund grants the boon of wisdom.

Lake Pichola or Fateh Sagar- Lake Pichola or Fateh Sagar -This lake is located north of Lake Pichola and is linked to it by a canal. It was originally constructed by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678 and was later reconstructed after its destruction by floods by Maharajah Fateh Singh. Tourists can enjoy motor boat rid.

Ramgarh Dam - Ramgarh Dam is Located in Jaipur. This beautiful dam or lake supply the water for agriculture purpose in Jaipur and other nearby places.

Kaliana Lake - For picnics the Kailana Lake is the picture perfect place, famous for a spectacular view of sunset.

Situated 11 km form Jodhpur, this serene lake is and ideal jaunt for picnics.

Siliserh Lake - The water palace of Siliserh with a lake sur­rounded by low wooded hills, enrooted to Sariska 12 Kms. southwest of Alwar.The tranquil lake is nestled in the hills, the twinkling ripples of the lake cover an area of about 10.5 sq. Kms, surrounded by thick forest and magnificent cenotopaths on its embankment. A royal hunting lodge /palace was built by Maharaja Vinay Singh for his Queen Shila in 1845. It has been converted into a tourist bungalow and is an attractive spot for peaceful holiday.  Boating facilities at Siliserh Lake.
