Entertainment in the
capital is limited, although many hotels put on some sort of evening
music, dance or puppet shows.
Theatres
Welcomgroup Rajputana Palace Sheraton Every evening from 7.00 pm to
9.00 pm in the wit-out area. The show includes Kalbelia Dancers,Puppeteers
& Bhopa- Bhopi, which displays Rajasthan's rich heritage
Band Playing (Ram Niwas Bagh) An age old tradition of "Band
Playing" has been revived by the Department of Tourism at the Ram
Niwas Bagh. This entertainment programme would be held every Saturday
evening. Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh started this tradition in 1872 A.D. He
invited a band master from Germany and formed a group which played the
band every Monday evening after the sun set. This tradition continued till
1956, after which it faded out.
Ravindra Manch Usually isbooked by schools, colleges etc. but at
times there are special shows of classical Indian arts and plays.
Jawahar Kala Kendra From time to time the theatre has shows by
artists from other states and countries.
